This position is responsible for providing physical Database support for Netezza/Mako4 and Mako2
As a Netezza DBA, you will be responsible for DB environment availability, optimizing Database objects for performance issues, performing client administration and processes/functions support, performing query consulting, as required, to assist in performance or functional issue resolution. For a production issue, you will open and work PMRs with IBM support to manage hardware failures via webex, appliance upgrades and install patches
Also, establishing, maintaining, and documenting any configuration parameters for DBMS, security and DDL is expected. On Ad hoc basis, you will be monitoring, collecting, and storing DBMS workload and performance data for alerts, trending, in a form of reports preferably scripted for automated processing.
You will be working with a senior DBA, who will be setting strategy and guide you on the project as well as on day to day client interaction
You will also be working with development & support team for DB object related issues and support. You are expected to use the NzAdmin/NZMigrate tool for typical administrative tasks, including Genstats, Groom, and manage Development, test and Production environments. You are expected to participate in after hours on call duties as requested.

• 5 years of experiences in Netezza Performance Server database administration
• Excellent knowledge of Netezza Architecture and system internals
• Demonstrated ability to support Production database administration activities on the Netezza environment.
• 5 years of SQL programming and Performance Tuning experience
• Experience in linux shell scripting and crontab maintenance
• Ability to own issues and follow through on commitments.
• Knowledge of industry best practices.
• Team player
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, customer service and interpersonal skills.
